America’s independence mantra and false bootstrap philosophies have us all tired, stressed, and weaker — unable to raise the productive little people who grow up to become productive adults. We need help to make it in this world, but America teaches us asking for help is a sign of weakness…
A lot of the psychology touted in books and table talks about self-love, self-help, and bootstrapping (entrepreneurialism) promotes selfishness and narcissism. These best sellers or highly watched programs espouse this look within mantra rather than seek a balance that also should espouse a reaching out for a sense of togetherness.
This makes for a lonely world.
