A President Like This
…and only a president like this
Only a president like this can be so detached from reality and unaware of the toxicity demonstrably spewed and or carried out with no chagrin.
Wow this is the brain on incurable narcissism. It appears more potent than LSD.
If you could get pass all that hyperbole, this country has seen a fair share of presidents being treated really badly — as appropriately defined, and you will comprehend why shortly. There are a few presidents that have been treated way incomparably worse or relatively speaking.
There was a president who was shot in the head because the assassin wanted to avenge the south. Putting an end to slavery brings out the worst in certain groups of people. The vanity and insanity of it all is quite disturbing.
There was another president who got shot in the head too.
The assassin, who has a similar penchant that Trump has for despotic or autocratic leaders, previously defected to the Soviet Union ( see wife and kid) and didn’t like the moral stances that Kennedy stood on like civil rights (no surprise here as this seem to be a persistent and recurrent theme here) women’s rights, and juvenile delinquency to name a few.
And albeit, not in the same scope or degree of radical outcome of hatred, there is then also this popular president. Remember this.
This was when Representative Joe Wilson yelled out ‘you lie’ while a president addressed the state of the union, or disunion rather. The opposing party treated this president with utter disrespect and makes the democrats who oppose Trump now look like a choir in comparison. There was also a mean-spirited campaign to delegitimate his presidency with the birther conspiracy theory. The current president claiming this now historically bad treatment is still a birther and has contributed to much of the reckless and callous treatment of President Obama to this very day.
“Are there folks whose primary concern about me has been that I seem foreign, the other? Are those who champion the “birther” movement feeding off of bias? Absolutely.”
But this current president is not at all the same nor can be likened to any of the presidents mentioned here. This president is antithetical at best, and with all the disparagement Trump has rightfully and dutifully earned, it doesn’t come close to so called bad treatment. Not even comparatively.
Not in the least. What he receives instead comes off as fear and loathing more than anything else. A president like this continues to enjoy invoking this aspect of fear and what can only be seen as this unyielding, sustainable support for what can be described as his instrumental and or intangible value in holding the highest office.
What is this value of having Trump serve as President of the United States? Is there some instrumental value to his presidency(and to what end?) or is there some intrinsic value (embedded in the identitarian crisis) there? I find that the evidence shows that it is a combination of both and an oversimplification of this must be rooted in this dualism between parties, between extremes, between rich and poor, between black and white, and between good and evil playing out before us.
President Donald Trump on Sunday ominously raised the possibility of violence if he is removed from office, quoting an evangelical pastor who warned on Fox News of a “Civil War-like” fracture.
Illinois Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger, an Air Force veteran of Iraq, quickly slammed Trump’s tweet as “beyond repugnant,” adding: “I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President.”
Not only has Trump insinuated civil war, he has intimated how he would win that battle easily. Just read Thomas Edsall’s piece in the NYTimes on how this could turn out whether he is impeached or whether he loses the 2020 election.

You know, the left plays a tougher game, it’s very funny. I actually think that the people on the right are tougher, but they don’t play it tougher. O.K.? Despite all the calamities since his inauguration the president still expects to receive this…
“I think I’m going to get a Nobel Prize for a lot of things, if they gave it out fairly, which they don’t,” Trump told reporters during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan at the United Nations.
Trump then argued that his predecessor, President Barack Obama, should not have received the award in 2009.
“They gave one to Obama,” Trump said, claiming that the Democrat had “no idea” why he had received it. “That was the only thing I agreed with him on.”
