My head feels as if it’s in a permanent, debilitating spin. My instincts lean heavily toward problem solving, and the hardest part of trying to survive in the midst of all this, for me, is knowing that the perpetrators and the enablers work together to impede problem solving at every turn.
I was trying to convey this piece in a way that gets the reader to say it. Racism, with all its complicities, drives people to act in ways that defy logic and reason, or act in ways that are downright sinful, or inconsistent, confusing and contradicting to ethical and moral values.
Unfortunately, the adverse effects show up for both the victim and the perpetrator, the racially non-white and the racially white, for the ones who care enough to those who don’t care enough.
This man-made virus is so virulent with so many strains that it really seems impossible to cure. Hope certainly lowers the risk but that alone won’t cure it.
