Indeed. This morality play on racism is a troubling form of motivated ignorance with its cliché cultivation of a ‘few bad apples’ fallacy. This rhetorical device forewarns that the overall purity of whiteness remains unspoiled by the fertilizing agent — privilege. Meanwhile its the manufacuring of these apples, or in this instance racial hierarchy as its production in and of itself that gets missed in the discussion.
