Thanks Caleb, unfortunately we have all been grossly miseducated by our own institution. The republic, as it were, contradicts the idea that this country is a democracy. In a true democracy laws are enacted and upheld through a direct vote, whereas in a republic those very same laws are enacted and upheld through an elected representative. Big difference. This country is actually a mixed bag or hybrid. It markets itself as a democracy advertising democratic features that don’t work very well because it is actually built like a Republic. This is attributive to why the popular vote is inconsequential to the election of Donald Trump.
This insensitively constructed belief we have in our country’s democracy or its pledge of being “…indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”, I know I sound like a broken record here, (and I am dating myself with this comment here, music is not distributed in this form nor played in this way anymore) has no footing in validity.
It is only valid for those who have been incentivized by its fallacious arguments which have been colored by the backdrop of symbolism and the appearance of an American unifying spirit . Under the surface it is rife with contradiction and an erroneous application of democratic principles. The source of all this cognitive dissonance.
