It’s only Wednesday, and we’ve spent the first two days of this week watching two villainous reality show grifters — Omarosa and Trump — duke it out over the contents of Omarosa’s tell-all book. I desperately want to cry “team no one!” and go on about my business, but one of them is the Presid…
To be frank, I will not be lulled into the dominant framing or white narrative posed here that established some either you are with Omarosa or you are with Trump propositioning by the political media complex.
There is no either your with Omarosa’s convenient intersectionality as a black woman or your with Trump’s side in all of this. The Black diasopra cannot be reduced and oversimplified by such irrational and deceptive logic. My participation with Black pride and freedom is not on the line here and neither should it be in jeopardy over Omarosa’s comeuppance for her unqualified and insipid motives. Obviously this woman of her own free will put herself in harms way for the sake of opportunity and in the process disregarded our plight and the Black experience of injustice and its resistance.
My Blackness is non-negotiable and therefore my interactions with whites or any other groups are not ethically or morally transactional. Blackness at its core is about humanity. Not coming to her defense or rescue in any form or fashion is not consequential to my Blackness. She simply lacks any representativeness that would warrant coming to any form of her defense.
So yeah, I will move on undeterred by this foolishness and this asinine administration. I will continue to follow the right side of history unfolding.
