We all do this…and we all do that …is an overused cliché and is not an effective counterargument. Not in the slightest.
No rational person would doubt that an unruly child warrants discipline in order for them to practice and learn self-control.
We all wish to lash out against someone we presume to be blameworthy for whatever grievances we hold, whether it is legitimate or illegitimate, but having evolved into adulthood or generally speaking, having evolved as a human race in terms of civility, it is inexcusable to be motivationally ignorant of any consequentialism that would follow to yourself and your target.
Whether that range of consequentialism comes in the form of a cycle of violence or a perpetuation of injustice or inequality, At what point does mere insight set in to disabuse ourselves of such unwarranted discrimination?
So to conclude there is no picking a side here. The failure here contextually is this knee-jerk reaction in favor of or in defense of tribalism.
Read correctly: so once again something must be wrong with me then for calling out motivated ignorance.
