When You Are Born Into And Or Conditioned By Motivated Ignorance
It becomes a self-reinforcing cycle of moral turpitude
Dayanna Volitich, a 25-year-old social studies teacher at Crystal River Middle School in Florida, has been secretly hosting the white nationalist podcast “Unapologetic” under the pseudonym “Tiana Dalichov” and bragging about teaching her views in a public school, HuffPost has discovered.
In her most recent podcast on Feb. 26, a guest railed against diversity in schools, dismissing the idea that “a kid from Nigeria and a kid who came from Sweden are supposed to learn exactly the same” and have the “same IQ.” Volitich enthusiastically agreed with the guest, and went on to argue that “science” has proven that certain races are smarter than others.
In the same episode, Volitich boasted about bringing her white nationalist beliefs into the classroom and hiding her ideology from administrators. She said that when parents complained to the school’s principal about how she is injecting political bias into the classroom, Volitich lied to the principal and said it was not true.😐
“She believed me and backed off,” she said.
The school where Volitich works is overwhelmingly white. In the 2015–2016 school year, nearly 90 percent of the school’s students identified as white, per the National Center for Education Statistics. Only about 4 percent of students identify as black, and 3 percent identify as Hispanic. Most of the school’s students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Social studies teacher?!?!
Ms. Volitich has been teaching at this predominately white school where most of the students qualify for free lunch since 2016. The complaints received from parents only pointed to “injecting political bias into the classroom” as seemingly the only major complaint. The only major complaint.🤔. Political bias. 😐 That’s the only complaint.😑🤨
What goes without saying evidently needs to be preached.
This pseudoscience being taught or brainwashed into students by this woman in the classroom is baseless, ignores facts, and empirical evidence altogether, and is to the contrary. And this is glaringly right in front of her, all she needs to do is look in the mirror.
Many people who carry the same features ascribed under the existential social construct of whiteness suffer from this pathology of an imagined righteous indignation — a racialized emotive response to the fear and loathing they have of racialized groups according to white ideology. Like Ms. Volitich, they are willfully ignorant, and of their own volition they choose to embrace this evil.
What is unique about this evil is that it has been remarkably rewarding: privilege, theft, and dehumanization, are just a few of the abominations that has essentially been reified through socioeconomic inequality with fraudulent outcomes that only give the appearance of racial superiority. When you couple this with an accompanying dominant narrative and white racial framing into the worldview it becomes more than just suggestive it also feels protective — tribally.
The only surprise here is that it is actually being reported.
Once again we are completely surrounded.
